We are thankful to partner with South Mississippi Smiles for this post. We strive to provide helpful information for families on the Gulf Coast.
The Easter Bunny is sailing into South Mississippi soon and we’ve got some super sweet sugar alternatives to fill your baskets with this spring!
Our friends at South Mississippi Smiles want to remind you that, “Monitoring your child’s diet and oral hygiene are important factors in preventing dental decay. We recommend helping your child brush their teeth twice a day and floss any teeth that are touching nightly.”
Listen folks, no one is saying a Peep or two will hurt (as long as you drink water and brush your teeth as soon as possible *wink) but there are plenty of SAH-WEEET substitutes to the one-pound chocolate bunny hopping into your little chick’s basket this April. Seriously, these ideas are so good they won’t even miss the jellybeans.
AN EXPERIENCE THEY’LL NEVER FORGET
The world is finally opening back up and it’s the perfect time to make a memory with your munchkins. Fill baskets with everything you’ll need to have a picture-perfect day on the Coast.
Is your kiddo a baseball fan? How about tickets to a game and some team merch to pinch hit for boring ole candy? Do they love to play in the waves and sand? A new bathing suit, swim goggles, and sand toys is a clever way to start a new tradition and gift them some summer necessities too!
ENCOURAGE A NEW HOBBY
I don’t know about y’all but thanks to YouTube my kids come up with a new hobby they want to try weekly, and Easter is the perfect time to support those unique interests.
Has your little girl or boy mentioned wanting to learn crochet? Yarn and needles are all a beginner need! (And a yarn basket would be a lovely stand-in for the typical basket)
Art supplies such as sketch books, pencils, paint, brushes, and a canvas or two will have your young artist so inspired that they won’t even notice the lack of confections!
STOCK UP FOR FAMILY GAME NIGHT
We’re all fighting against too much screen time, amiright? Let’s bring back playing games as a family!
There are so many card games that would look great nestled in a bed of Easter grass. Other family fun options are puzzles, a bingo set, or something for the outdoors like Bocce Ball, Croquet or Horseshoes.
We’re all blessed with work and activities, and we can finally see each other’s smiling faces—thank goodness! Let’s honor the spirit of the Spring and renew ourselves and our families by modeling a different healthy perspective this year. The possibilities are infinite, and your kids will always remember the coolest Easter basket they ever received!
