ASTRO CAMP ⭐️

Astro Camp is designed to inspire kids to learn more about space exploration and pathways to STEM careers with fun, hands-on activities.

Astro Camp® sessions are aligned with NASA’s current priorities:  Aeronautics, Technology, Solar Systems & Beyond, Earth Right Now, International Space Station, and Journey to Mars.

Ages 12-15

Artemis campers will explore the scientific aspects of what it will take for Earthlings to return to the moon and on to Mars. Not only will we need to know about space travel we will need geologists, roboticists, chemists, computer technologists, and more.

Through daily hands-on exploration, campers will learn and experience the science fields awaiting future space explorers.

NEXUS ROBOTICS CAMP

Ages 12-15
Grades (going into) 7th -10th

Campers will explore the world of Naval Robotics, challenges, and hands-on experience with robotics.  Campers will experience real-world challenges and work to solve those challenges through remote-controlled robotics coded and created by them.


ROBOTICS & TECHNOLOGY CAMP

Ages: 10-15

An interactive camp where students build robots, stomp rockets, and other fun projects! Students work in teams to design and build a VEX robot using the latest technology then compete on the final day using the robots they create.

Do your kiddos bring you creepy-crawly presents all the time? Check out this bug camp! Over the week children will participate in many activities, make crafts, and snacks all while exploring the world of BUGS! Real or fake, kids will have fun learning a lot about BUGS!

If your kids want to make slime all the time, but you hate the mess in your house— let them slime to their hearts’ content at this fun camp! It’s a slime fest! Young scientists will discover what makes slime and why it’s so fun to play with! There will be 5 days of science projects galore using materials you can find at home.

Did you know cooking is science? Campers will enjoy a week of learning and experimenting in the kitchen and will even get the opportunity to eat some of their science experiments! (This camp may include Nuts, Milk products, and Gluten!)


SENSORY SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS

Campers will be doing all of the fun and messy science experiments… Volcano Eruptions, Oobleck, Candy Chromatography, Changing Color Potions, Mento Geysers, and more!


ENGINEERING HURRICANES

Ages: 5-12

Using what they learn about hurricanes during the week and how they affect various building practices along the Gulf Coast, campers will explore different materials and build their own “Hurricane-proof” houses. Then, they will test them by creating their own “hurricanes!”


LEGO ROBOTICS

Campers will spend the week designing, building, and coding Robots using LEGOS!


FUTURE GIRL ENGINEERS

Ages: 6-8

While STEM and STEAM fields are growing exponentially every year, women still only make up less than one-third of the workforce. These summer camps are designed to encourage more girls to pursue STEAM and STEM careers by presenting activities that are fun, challenging and exciting.


MACHINES IN STEM

Ages: 6-8
Where: FABLAB, Vancleave

Design and build a Paper Roller Coaster and learn about kinetic and potential energy. Build a speed boat with cardboard and a rubber band, and then build a cardboard robot that will move across the table and race a classmate to the finish line.

Campers combine STEM with Art! Participants will bring their own devices (iPad/Android tablet) and use technology to take their art to the next level.


SWAPS CAMP

Ages: 9-13

Jackson County Outdoor Recreation & Mississippi State Extension are offering 2 SWAPS (Sustainability with Awareness and Prevention Solutions) Summer Camps. Campers will filter water to look for microplastics, build their own Vermicomposting Bin, DIY alternatives to plastic including lotion bars and beeswax wraps, and collect and report data on litter in the environment.

Grades: K-8th

FUTURE ENGINEERING AND DESIGN

Ages: 10-18

Campers will explore engineering and design concepts with activities like building a popsicle bridge, creating a Lego marble run, and designing and building a paper roller coaster.
