Hi fellow Gulf Coast moms! My name is Brittany Cruso Alexander and I am the owner of The Scratch Kitchen Food Truck located in Ocean Springs. I am a wife, and the mom of a 6-year-old girl, Laila and a 20-year-old son, Eric. I was born and raised in Biloxi and couldn’t be more proud to start my small business locally! We have been open since May 2020.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
The Scratch Kitchen or TSK as we call it, is based in Ocean Springs but can be found all over the Gulf Coast from time to time. We offer traditional food truck favorites, as well as one-of-a-kind dishes, made from scratch! We strive to provide each guest the best, most unique food experience around.
With my daughter finishing Kindergarten and starting 1st grade in the midst of a pandemic, it was just like me to add a little more to my plate by opening TSK (insert LOL)! I’m still not sure how everything fell into place so perfectly, but I am forever grateful to everyone who pushed me to take a leap of faith to fulfill my dream.
We have grown so quickly in the past few months and it’s largely in thanks to my customers who go above and beyond for me daily. Not only do they frequent the truck, but they share their experiences with others and always encourage me to do more. I’m very new to the food truck world so I’m still learning everyday.
MOTHERHOOD AND OWNING A BUSINESS
There’s nothing more rewarding than someone telling you how good your food makes them feel, but never have I ever worked so hard. Owning a business and being a mother is definitely a challenge. The balance just sort of happens by itself. You do what you can at work for your staff and customers, then you go home and do it all over again for your family! If you ask my Laila what’s the best thing on the menu, she will most certainly tell you it’s the Heavenly Fruit Nachos (click here to enter to win one month of free nachos)!
THE FUTURE
At TSK, our menu changes daily. We are looking forward to cooler weather and the addition of Fall favorites such as soups, stews and chilis.
