Why Traintastic is a MUST VISIT!

Last December, I happened to take my then 3 year old little boy to the Model Railroad Museum. Rhett absolutely loved it. He loves trains, cars, trucks, and all things that go. He was fascinated by the models and he enjoyed walking through the museum.

While there, I chatted with a lady who told me that soon they would be moving across the street to an all new building and that he would love it even more. I remember thinking, “Well.. I don’t know I mean…this place is pretty awesome as is! What could be better?”

So when I tell you that our first visit to the brand new building with an all new name and vision was beyond my wildest expectations, it REALLY was! Not only was my now almost 5 year old fascinated by the models, he got the chance to pretend play in the play area as a conductor and engineer. My 2 year old daughter played dress up and cooked us all up a pretend meal in the kitchen car play area.

Then, they rode on the Thomas the Train engine and tracks for 30 minutes before we headed outside to ride the outdoor train. My husband enjoyed the entire display. We also loved looking at all of the model trains and seeing the creativity of the builders. We ended up snagging a family season pass before we even left on our first day!

If you haven’t gone, let me encourage you to plan a visit! There is truly something for every age group! And if you do have toddlers, prepare for them to never want to leave because they will have the greatest time! You’ll probably find yourself ending up in line for season passes, too!

If you do go visit, make sure to let them know that The Gulf Coast Mom sent you!
