Erin Brown
We are so excited to (re)introduce you to one of our own today as our Mom Feature Friday! As you all well know, Erin Brown is one of the co-owners of The Gulf Coast Mom… but this mama of two wears many more hats on a daily basis 🤪
Erin Brown, wife and mom of two girls is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up in a family of 5 sisters, all of whom played competitive sports. She met her husband, Richie Brown, at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS where they were both student athletes. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in sports marketing. She worked for the Yah Agency directly after graduating, but quickly moved back to Starkville to work with the university’s Office of Public Affairs where she had the opportunity of working directly with the MSU Brand Manager during the official university rebrand in 2014.
Her husband, Richie Brown, entered the NFL draft in 2016 where he was initially picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Erin, obviously with a desire to stay with her husband, took the opportunity to start her own freelance marketing and design business. Always trying to think ahead, her goal was to develop this as a means to one day stay home with her children and hopefully have the opportunity and means to be able to homeschool them. She was quickly able to build a freelancing business that had the promise of allowing her to do just that.
Her and her husband welcomed their first little girl when they were in Atlanta with the Falcons back in 2018. Shortly there after, her husband suffered a serious concussion, unfortunately ending his NFL career early. For the first time since they had been married, they found themselves in the position to be able to choose where they were going to raise their family. It was a no-brainer when they decided to move back to Richie’s hometown of Long Beach, MS.
In the summer of 2023, Erin was approached with the opportunity to take over The Gulf Coast Mom. With her plate already full with freelance clients, her husband’s booming business, and mommy duties, it didn’t seem like the right move. Thankfully, after a short phone call to Jen Guthrie, she and Erin had a game plan to make it happen… and the rest, as you all have seen, is history! Well, sort of — They also launched FRAME - Branding Agency in the summer of 2024 as another means to serve businesses across the southeast.
On top of owning The Gulf Coast Mom and FRAME - Branding Agency, her and her husband also own Beacon Contracting, which they launched back in 2022. They are proud to be one of the fastest growing construction companies in the state. Beacon specializes in custom home builds as well as private commercial projects. They utilize the latest in building science techniques to ensure the durability and longevity of every project they complete. Focussed on modern high-efficiency building techniques, Beacon delivers the highest standards of durability, functionality, and timeless design. As a family-run business, they love the opportunity they have to serve families and businesses all across the Coast.
When asked to share one piece of advice to all the mamas out there, this is what she said:
“never underestimate the impact of grace in your parenting. ‘gentle parenting’ gets a bad wrap sometimes, but you will never regret to the extent you mirror christ in your parenting. that is a legacy worth passing on.”
