Hannah Robinett
You may know her from Magnolia Munchies and we are so excited to feature Hannah Robinett on this Mom Feature Friday!
“Well hey, y’all! I’m Hannah. I am curious, creative, and a deep conversationalist. (Is this a date? This feels like a date.) I grew up here on the Coast, and moved back after my husband and I had our first child. Motherhood really presents the importance of community in a way nothing else can, ya know? I’m so grateful we live close to family. It means I get to hang out with my grandma and mom- two of the wisest and wittiest women around!
My love for coffee, a good project, and process improvement all come in handy as I run my small business, Magnolia Munchies, with my dad-slash-business partner. He’s the peanut butter to my jelly, and it’s such a fun adventure we’ve embarked on! I get to nerd out on the science of freeze-drying (fun fact: the scientific term for the process is called lyophilization!), as well as connect with a truly fantastic network of local makers and growers at the markets and events we attend. It’s simply the best.”
Hannah and her husband, Dustin, recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary, and their two young kiddos (6 & 3) are constantly honing them into better humans. “Dustin grounds me and supports all my endeavors. When I decided to go back to school and start a business in the same year, I knew it would stretch our little family (and frankly, suck sometimes). And boy howdy, it sure wasn’t a cake walk! I applaud all you single moms out there getting it done– even with a partner, this parenting-and-everything-else-ing can be a challenge.”
When they have free time, her family enjoys trips to hike, camp, or explore nature! “The kids and I have a blast discovering agates and other cool rocks, and Dustin is my adventurous eating partner.”
“As a working stay-at-home mom, every day looks different, but we have a rhythm to provide both the structure and flexibility our very ADHD family needs to thrive. After dropping off my oldest at school, my 3-year-old and I do what needs doing– whether that’s the dishes, visiting grandma, or ignoring the to-do list to enjoy a particularly perfect day outside. After school, there’s usually legos to build, conflicts to parent through, and somersaults to admire (one does not simply somersault without mom watching, in case you weren’t aware).
My husband and I switch off “kid put down” nights, and this allows both of us to have a little extra time with the kids, and some time to ourselves! Both are very important to us. When it’s my “free” night, you can typically find me prepping Magnolia Munchies products for upcoming events. Behind-the-scenes, we are doing everything from labeling bags, to unwrapping a million and one jolly ranchers, to developing something new to bring to the table (my current obsession is our Sweet & Spicy Pineapple I developed. insert chef’s kiss here).”
When we asked Hannah to share a piece of advice with ya’ll, here’s what she had to say:
“It’s not too late. You can make the mom friends. You can take the class. You can recognize a problem and address it. You can start the business or club or hobby. You aren’t limited by a timeframe cooked up by the culture- it’s meaningless! When I took a pause on my higher education to marry, then move, then have kids… It was hard. I felt like I had “missed the boat.” Watching my college roommate walk across the stage, while I had a baby at home, was tough. I cried a little.
But guess what? It wasn’t too late. Five years later, I re-enrolled in school because it mattered to me. Three semesters later, I got to walk across that stage, then hug my husband and kiddos afterward. What a humbling, satisfying, sometimes-really-stressful experience. I cried a little.
Don’t give the thought ‘It’s too late for me’ an inch in your mind. Little things or big things… It's never too late! You got this, girl.’”
